Why I use "K"

One of the most persistent things I get teased about among most of the serious practitioners who come to this site is about is the fact that I use a K on the word Magick. Many have pointed out to me that adding that K is unnecessary and fluffy. Well, here in this article, probably the shortest I will write, is my reason for using that K.

I want to.

That's it. That's the whole reason.

Oh, I know I could cry that it's because I'm into the OTO and that I follow Crowley and he used a K on his Magick and therefore I use it on mine. Or I could say that adding that K on there makes the word numerologically resonate with the universe. Or I could say that adding that K on there makes magick stand out from stage magic. I could say all those, but it would be a big, fat lie.

I started spelling magick with a K when I first started this path. My fingers have gotten used to typing magick. It's as natural to put that K on there now as it is to type "teh". I have to consciously work to keep from putting that K on there when it's inappropriate, and it's so easy at this point that I have been typing magick with a K so long that I now spell it magickian, and it looks right to me.

So, this is one of my foibles. Get past it. I do this simply because I want to.

On the flip side of this, I will NEVER criticize someone for spelling magick with a K if I think they are fluffy. I will castigate them for using any other spelling, but not for the K. I also won't automatically assume that someone who spells it with a K is an idiot. I'm not that much of a hypocrite.
