Thoughts

Erin

In light of my successes in setting up the RSS feed for this, I have to say that life just is interesting.

Take this for instance: About two years ago my wife and I were doing our laundry in the laundry room of our complex, and there was a computer magazine there. In there it was talking about up and comming technology and stuff that you need to pay attention to.

I didn’t think anything about it, and then the article started talking about RSS and XHTML. I started getting excited about XML and XHTML, I mean, here’s a computer language for communicating on the Internet that you can customize for your own use, defining tags and making them do what you want. OH BOY!!!

So, I worked my ass off and converted the ENTIRE Journal over to XHTML. THEN I found out just how limited it is. There are things in XHTML that are wonderful and would be fantastic if it would JUST go live in a fully supported version. So far, the only thing that XHTML does that HTML doesn’t is force you to close your tags and keep sloppy code from occurring. That’s it.

But I ignored RSS. I looked into it and thought I have absolutely no need to publish the Journal to a whole bunch of strangers and needing a reader to actually read what I put up is silly.

Famous last words, huh?

I also resisted blogging for a long time because of the sillyness of it. Why should I do something that is going to cause me to waste more time? Then I started my Druid blog, then my LiveJournal blog, then my announcement community blog and suddenly I’m hip deep in them.

Thus, what you are reading now. It’s one of those times when I should have listened initially to what my brain was telling me. I should have just given in to the inevatable and done what I was gonna do anyhow and done it sooner. Missed opportunities and so on.

I’ll die before I turn the whole FrontPage into one big blog page though. Too much going on to allow for that.
