Name Change, for everything.
Astute readers of my Journal will have already noticed that the name has changed. That’s what should be. But let me tell you why.
As you may have read in earlier entries, I’m transitioning from Male to Female. Well, in recent months I’ve made some major strides forward in that regard, namely I’ve come out to everyone I know that I’m transitioning, and I’ve legally changed my name from my male moniker to a more female name.
With this change came a LOT of soul searching, a lot of meditation and a lot of discussion with the Gods. Finally after a long time, we all determined that I am Their daughter just as much as I was Their son. I am Their Priestess and still Their Priest.
Confusing? You bet you. About as confusing as being female, dressing as female, being called “She” and “Her” and “Miss” and still being called “Dad” by my daughter. But that’s okay, things take time, and I’m only partway through the hormone treatment.
Persecution
I was thinking about a snark I did yesterday on Persecution, then a friend posted about persecution on her LJ and it got me thinking:
Pagans really don’t have a candle to hold to anyone on the persecution scale.
I heard this piece coming into work this morning on NPR:

One of the things that struck me is that the fighting between the Suni and Sheite groups is causing diversified communities to be one or the other. Steve Inskeep, the comentator on that piece said “in some communities, the clensing….is complete.” Meaning that one sect KILLED OFF the entirety of the other sect, or forced them out.
Part of the process is to grab people off the street, call their homes and ask relatives to confirm that their loved one is Suni or Sheite. It’s a crap shoot as to whether or not they get home at that point.
Resume
Well, just got an email from a lady who wanted some very specific information from me, so that she could judge the “correctness” of the Journal by what I had to say. She wanted, in effect, my Pagan Resume’.
So, I’m going to do something that I rarely do and that is talk about myself. BUT, I’m also going to put it behind a “cut” so that it’s not super-public where any idiot with an RSS reader can see it, they actually have to click on a link to get this information.

Okay, this is just stupid.
Okay, this was sent to me by my lady. If this is taken to where it could be, by logic, sharing a link to ANY website with anyone could be seen as copyright infringement. Seriously. If they can interpret it so that a video link is infringement, then you linking to my website’s article is too. Do that, and the Internet STOPS.

Ever sent someone a link to a copyrighted YouTube video? Of course — everybody has. And now the US Government seems to think that means it can put us in prison.
Bryan McCarthy ran a website, channelsurfing.net, that linked to various websites where you could watch online streams of TV shows and sports networks. A couple months ago, the government seized his domain name and on Friday they _arrested him_ for criminal copyright infringement.

Do me a favor
If you hate me, if you want to see me dead, if you think I should cover myself in flamable gel and set myself on fire and die in an inferno, AT LEAST HAVE THE FUCKING COURTESY TO SIGN YOUR NAME SO I KNOW WHO TO NOT CARE ABOUT. Don’t send me something anonymous and then act like you have the higher moral ground.
Upgrades
With the upgrading of my PC to a dual boot of Win XP and Linux, I’m starting on going through all my old archived files. This is a lot of work.
One of the biggest directories is the “Wicca” directory. It has work from nearly 18 years of practicing Paganism of various flavors, and it contains a LOT of information that can’t be found anywhere else anymore.
Things like the Ancient Sites Archives of Iona and Anglesey, a Druid group on that site that deals not only with roleplay but also historical truth and research. I have all the files of my association with the ODU, and I don’t know if they are anyplace since that fellowship died with the Arch Druid quitting.
I have tons of information that is just plain silly stuff, jokes and emails, conversations that are decades out of date. Graphics that can be dispensed with, and so on.
Flooding
As you might know, I live in Nashville, Tennessee. Close to downtown, just a mile from the Cumberland River. That might bring people to the conclusion that I was flooded out, but that would be incorrect.
Here at Casa Daven, it rained hard, we had standing water in our front yard and back yard, but we weren’t flooded at all. Yes, there were areas only a half a mile away that were underwater (the Juvenile Justice Center is completely underwater to the second floor). Thankfully the way the ground rolls around here we are up high enough to have lost nothing.
Thank the Gods for Their Mercy upon us.
Still, we are not unaffected by the floods. We are asked to curtail our usage of water since one of the reclamation plants that serve our drinking water is completely under water, and thus not working. We have been asked to cut our usage by half. We have power, we have water, we have telephone and Internet and are able to communicate and leave to get to the store. So we, personally, are safe.

New content problem
Well, here we all are. The Journal is about as set up as it gets, and I’m going through my bag of ideas to come up with new content.
The problem is, I’m just not coming up with much. Oh, I have a few things “on the hook” as it were, ready to be written up and posted, but they are germs of ideas.
I’m really considering the pros and cons of putting up the “Chapters” I have completed for the various books I’ve been working on. I’ve got three books that I’m trying to complete, and between all three I have about 30 “article” length chapters.
One book, about Tools, may be superfluous now that there are two excellent books out there dealing with the topic of tools that a Wiccan or Pagan needs, how to get them, ideas for making your own, using them, symbolism and more. Basically they cover what I was going to cover, so mine is gilding the lilly.
